Concentration : Due 2-1-2012
Your choice of imagery.
The Concentration section shows the student's in-depth exploration of a particular design concern. The emphasis is on a coherent development of an idea through a body of work, in addition to the artistic success of the work.

ic1 - Product Shot : due 2-1-2012

ic2 - Light Painting : Due 2-1-2012
Using a tripod and prolonged exposure shine a flashlight or other light source at the camera and on the subject as desired. Creative and well thought out images only (not stick figures). Basic understanding of the sensor and ISO settings is essential. Photography is the capture of light.
Recommended settings 18mm | f/3.5 | 30" | ISO 100
Understand and Experiment with the strength of the light as well as the sensitivity of the camera's digital sensor. Have control over the shapes, colour, and size of the light (or the amount that the camera captures).
Adjusting the ISO and Aperture will increase or decrease the amount of light captured.
ISO 100 Least Sensitive
ISO 6400 Most Sensitive
f/3.5 Largest Aperture ( Biggest Opening - lets in the most light - faster exposure)
f/36 Minimum Aperture (Smallest Opening - lets in less light takes longer to expose)

Shutter Speed : Due 2-8-2012
Caption action with a fast shutter speed.
Anything over 1/250 will produce a crisp frozen action. Stopping up the aperture to it's maximum will let in the most light. f/3.5 or f/1.8 on the fixed lens.
Ensure there is enough light to produce a rapid exposure.
If need be increase ISO speed to make the sensor more readily sensitive to light
(only as a last resort). Search for creative and interesting subject matter. Clean background and focused in cropping and composition stress the action.
Subject and Exposure must be clean and commercial quality.
Image should be print-worthy

Aperture : Due 2-15-2012
Stress a shallow depth of field. Stopping up the aperture to it's maximum will let in the most light. f/3.5 or f/1.8 on the fixed lens. Light travels, so the faster you take a photo the less light in the background you capture.
Large Depth of Fields are for scenic imagery. The sharpest photo typically is at one or two f stops from the minimum aperture on high quality lenses. However here you will focus on the subject not the background by blurring out the depth of field with a large opening in the lens.
Again focus on subject matter and execution that is more refined than a simple snapshot. Viewpoints and angles help enhance the effect.
